The night bleeds dark blue
suffocating into the air—
The engine hums a show tune
and my senses estrange themselves
from whom I was.
I have grown distant from myself.
My tire tracks sigh pensive behind me;
the road languishes plaintive before me.
I wish I had thoughts that I did not know
to tell me how to live.
Instead I have left myself behind
and all its lack of answers
for the mornings stalking night
and for these quiet moments
on my own.
